Manju Bhargavi

Manju Bhargavi is a highly acclaimed classical dancer and film actress who gained popularity all over the country and abroad by the film 'Sankarabharanam' (Telugu) which was dubbed to Malayalam and Tamil in

















1980.
Manju Bhargavi was born in Andhrapradesh in the year 1950 and was settled in Chennai.Her original name is Manjula.She is an exponent of Classical dance 'Kuchupudi' and 'Bharatanatyam'.
In the year 1974  Manju Bhargavi acted in a dance sequence of  the Telugu film 'Gaalipaatalu' .She again appeared for  small roles and dance numbers in films like 'Krishna Veni'Soggadu,Yamagola' etc.
Manju Bhargavi is six feet tall,  beautiful and naturally an young girl who is pretty and has good dancing and acting skill should get lead roles in films but during that period it was her height that stood as as an obstacle for her progress.The directors did not prefer her for heroine roles because of her height.
Yet she acted in some films like 'Yasoda Krishna(Telugu) in 1975 which was directed by C.S.R.Rao.Manju Bhargavi acted along with S.V.Ranga Rao,Jamuna,Krishna Kumari,Baby Sridevi etc in this film.
In 1975 she acted in the Malayalam  film 'Pulivalu' directed by Sasikumar and in another Malayalam film 'Njavalpazhangal' in 1976.
Manju Bhargavi was noted for her role in the Malayalam film 'Sathrathil Oru Rathri' which was released in 1978 and was directed by N.Sankaran Nair.The story of this film was by P.Padmarajan and it was a hit movie.
In 1979 Director K.Viswanath cast her for his movie 'Sankarabharanam' which was made in Telugu.It was intended  mainly for  the upheaval of Indian music especially 'Carnatic Music'.Manju Bhargavi depicted the role as  a classical dancer in the movie and her dance sequences were highly loved by the audience and she attained huge popularity by the release of its dubbed versions in Tamil and Malayalam in the year 1980.In the film Sankarabharanam, J.V.Somayajulu,Chandra Mohan,Rajyalakshmi,Sakshi Ranga Rao,Nirmalamma,Baby Tulasi,Allu Ramalingaiah etc acted.
Sankarabharanam received 'National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment' and other National awards for music composer,singer etc.It received 5 State  Nandi Awards.The film was exhibited in many International Film Festivals and bagged Awards also.
Manju Bhargavi became very busy with dance stage shows after the release of this film and in Kerala also her dance shows were conducted for temple festivals and functions throughout that decade.
Director K.Viswanath directed some other films in this genre like 'Sagara Sangamam' in 1983 in which Kamala Hassan and Jayapradha paired.It was also dubbed to Malayalam.In the film Sagara Sangamam also Manju Bhargavi acted.'Sankarabharanam' was remade in Hindi as 'Sur Sangam' in 1986 with Jayapradha as the heroine.
In the film Sankarabharam, Manju Bhargavi portrayed excellent acting talents and dancing skill.Her dance sequences, dance poses,gestures etc were all perfect and earned much critical acclaim and audience approval.She received respect and love from everyone which would be   much above than an Award.
Manju Bhargavi  did not act in many films after Sankarabharanam.In 1979 she acted in the movie 'Gandharva Kanya' along with Narasimha Raju,Prabha,Jaya Malini,Thyagaraju,Rama Rao,Raja Reddy,Srinivas etc.
In 1994 she acted in the film 'Yama Leela' along with Superstar Krishna,Indraja,Brahmanandam,Tanikella Bharani etc.Director was Krishna Reddy.
She acted in the film 'Ninne Pelladatha' in 1996 in which Nagarjuna Akkineni,Tabu,Chandramohan etc acted.
In 2008 she acted in the Kannada film 'Hodi Maga'.
Manju Bhargavi is settled in Bangalore with her husband and son  where she is running a Dance School.
She is acting in TV serials also at present.

Pratap Pothen

Pratap Pothen (Pratap K. Pothen) is an established actor,director,producer and writer of  mainly Malayalam and Tamil films.He has also acted in a few Hindi films. He directed 8 Tamil films,3 Malayalam films and 1 Telugu film.He received National Award-Indira Gandhi Award for Best first film of a Director for his Tamil movie 'Meendum Oru Kathal Kathai' in 1985.He earned much popularity and critical acclaim by directing the Malayalam film 'Oru Yathramozhi' with Sivaji Ganesan and Mohanlal in the leads.
His Malayalam film 'Rithubhedam' in 89 received Filmfare Award for Best Director(Malayalam).He directed Tamil films with top actors like Kamal Hassan,Sathyaraj,Prabhu Ganesan,Kartik,Napoleon etc.
Pratap Pothen was born on February 15, 1952 in Thiruvananthapuram as the son of well famous business man 'Kulathunkal Pothen'.He studied at 'Lawrence School, Lovedale in Ootty.His father died when he was 15 years old.Pratap Pothen completed his B.A.Degree course in 1972 and worked for a short period at places like Mumbai.His elder brother 'Hari Pothen' was established film producer who made hits and classics in Malayalam under the banner 'Supriya'.Prathap Pothen had the acting talents and when once director Bharathan witnessed his acting talent on stage at Chennai he invited him to act in his films.He entered films in 1979 and Tamil film 'Azhiyatha Kolangal' was released in that year. Malayalam  film 'Thakara'  which was directed by Bharathan  released in 1980 was a blockbuster success.That film gave tremendous and instant  popularity for Pratap Pothen.Pratap Pothen and Surekha were in the leads and Nedumudi Venu acted in supporting role as 'Chellappanasari'.The film   boosted the acting career of Nedumudi Venu also.
1980 was a lucky year for Pratap Pothen who received nice roles in many other films like 'Chamaram,Lorry,Pappu etc in Malayalam and  'Varumayin niram Sivappu,Moodu Pani etc in Tamil.
'Chamaram' told the story of a college student who felt love towards his teacher and it fetched him a Filmfare Best Actor Award along with Thakara.
In the Tamil film 'Varumayin niram Sivappu' he acted along the main pair Kamala Hassan and Sri Devi.Pratap Pothen handled the role of an eccentric director with an unhealthy obsession for an actress.
Sobha and Pratap Pothen were the leading pair of the Tamil film 'Moodu Pani' (The Mist) in 1980.It was directed by Balu Mahendra.
'Kudumbam Oru Kadambam' was a Tamil film of 81 in which Pratap Pothen and Sumalatha acted as  a couple.Suhasini and S.V.Sekhar also acted in this film in prime roles.The film was directed by S.P.Muthuraman and highlighted the message that 'money is required for life but life must not be entirely consumed by money'.
In 1982 he acted along with Mohan Lal,Ratheesh,Lakshmi,Madhavi etc in the hit film 'Sindoora Sandhyakku Mounam' which was directed by I.V.Sasi.The film was entirely shot at Kathmandu.
In the critically acclaimed film 'Novemberinte Nashtam' written and directed by P.Padmarajan, Pratap Pothen,V.Ramachandran,Surekha,Madhavi etc acted.Pratap Pothen (Das) acted as Mahavi's (Meera) lover in this film.
In the film Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare'  he was depicted as the late husband of Aleena (Asha Jayaram).
Malayalam film 'Daisy' which he directed in 1988 received good responses from critics and audience.Harish and Sonia acted as the main pair of this movie which had a romantic theme.
He directed Tamil film 'Vetri Vizha'(89) which became a blockbuster success. Kamal Hassan,Prabhu,Amala and Khushboo were in the leads of this movie which dealt the story of an amnesiac who struggles to find his past after a memory loss.
He directed the Tamil film 'Lucky Man' in 1995 in which Kartik and Sanghavi were the leads.It was the remake of Telugu film 'Yamaleela' of 94.
He acted in Malayalam films like 'Pulliman,22 Female Kottayam,3 Dots,Arikil Oral,Munnariyippu etc in Malayalam and 'Muran,Alex Pandian,Poojai etc in Tamil.
In the Malayalam film 'Bangalore Days' directed by Anjali Menon in 2014, he acted as the father of Natasha Francis.(Nithya Menon).
In the 2014 Malayalam film 'Munnariyippu' he acted along with Mammootty,Aparna Gopinath,Nedumudi Venu etc as the character' KK '.
Pratap Pothen married Tamil actress Radhika in 1985 but got divorced in 86, He married Amala Sathyanath in 1990 and a daughter was born to them in 1991.Pratap Pothen and Amala also got divorced in 2012.

Sai Kumar

Sai Kumar is a well acclaimed Malayalam actor of high caliber who acted in large number of films in main roles,Supporting roles,Character roles and also earned wide appreciations for  his villainous roles.He got accolades for several villain roles in various films which he portrayed with much talent.
Sai Kumar has got his acting abilities intrinsic as he is the son of the legend actor Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair.Sai Kumar was the lead actor of a professional drama troupe at the time of joining films as the hero of the Malayalam film 'Ramji Rao Speaking'.Before that he had acted in one or two Malayalam films as a child artist.Ramji Rao speaking was a trend setter and a big success film and that helped him to acquire more roles in Malayalam films in main roles.But because of   the tough competition in those days he could not maintain his protagonist position and had to act in supporting roles and later in villain roles.He is having excessive talent to portray villain roles and negative roles.His villain roles usually would  not be of  a Goonda type but as characters having high status in society wearing  a face mask  of clean image but involved in all types of anti social activities.
Sai Kumar was born in Kottarakara on 14th April 1963.The film Ramji Rao Speaking which was directed by Siddique and Lal was a big success.He acted as the hero of the film along with Mukesh,Innocent,Rekha,Mamukoya,Devan,Sankaradi,Sukumari  etc.
In the film 'Thoovalsparsam'  of 1990 he acted along with Jayaram and Mukesh in equally important roles as the roommates and the entry of a small baby in to their lives and a baby sitter (Innocent) creates much comedy.
Sai Kumar got accolades for the film 'Mannar Mathai Speaking' in which he acted along with Mukesh,Vani Viswanath,Biju Menon etc which was also a big success.
In the super hit film 'Hitler' he depicted a villain role and acted  along with Mammootty,Mukesh,Jagadeesh,Shobhana etc.
In the film 'Aaram Thampuran' he acted as the friend of Mohan Lal's character jagannathan.Sai Kumar acted as a business tycoon 'Nanda Kumar' who sought the help of Mohan Lal when he had to face a setback in his business.
He  also acted as villain in the super hit Mohan Lal  film 'Narasimham'.
He acted as Dy.Sp John in the film 'The Truth' directed by Shaji Kailas in 1998.
He was villain the film 'Valiettan' in which Mammootty was the hero and it  was directed by Shaji Kailas.Sai Kumar played the role of 'Patteri Sivaraman Nair' who wanted to finish off Madhavan Unni (Mammootty) because of of some old family disputes.
In the film 'Thandavam' a Mohan Lal lead film, Sai Kumar portrayed an evil Politician 'Sankar Das'.
His villain role as K.C.Korah in the film 'Chathurangam' directed by K.Madhu in 2002 earned him much appreciation as well as the villain of Sethurama Iyer CBI directed by K.Madhu in 2008.
In the film 'Bharatchandran I.P.S' in which Suresh Gopi was the hero and which was directed by Ranji Panicker in 2005, Sai Kumar's role as Janab Hyderali Hassan was highly appreciated.
Suresh Gopi,Lalu Alex,Shreya Reddy,Rajan P.Dev etc acted in it.
In the film 'Anantha Bhairavi' directed by Jayaraj in 2007 Sai Kumar portrayed a Kathakali artist and his son Appu (Master Devan) was  a talented classical child singer in the film.The film earned critical acclaim and awards.Sai Kumar received second Best actor award from Kerala Government for this film.
In the film 'Chakkaramuthu' directed by Lohithadas (2006)  in which Dileep and Kavya Madhavan were the leads, Sai Kumar acted as the uncle of Kavya and received Best supporting actor award from Asianet.
In the film 'Sound Thoma' in which Dileep portrayed the hero character Thomas in 2013, Sai Kumar acted as his father 'Plaparmbil Paulo'.The character Paulo was a greedy man who became rich by  doing all kind of evil activities.Thomas was against this and he helped the villager's using his father's money without his knowledge.Ultimately Plaparambil














Paulo realizes his mistakes.
In the 2015 super hit movie 'Mili' Sai Kumar acted as the father of Mili(Amala Paul).

K.P.A.C.Lalitha

K.P.A.C Lalitha is a highly acclaimed versatile actress of Malayalam Cinema who usually plays supportive and character roles.She has acted as female lead of some earlier films also.She is recipient of National award as Best Supporting actress twice.She has been in the Malayalam film field for more than 45 years.Bharathan, who was one of the excellent film directors of Malayalam cinema was her husband.
KPAC Lalitha was born as 'Maheswari Amma' at Ramapuram near Kayamkulam in Alapuzha district to parents Ananthan Nair and Bhargavi Amma in the year 1947.During her childhood she was given classical dance training by  Guru Kalamandalam Gangadharan.She started to acto in stage plays from the age of ten and later joined the prestigious professional drama troupe KPAC and they changed her name as 'Lalitha' and when joined films she accepted the screen name as KPAC Lalitha.
She acted in the Malayalam film 'koottukudumbam'  directed by K.S.Sethumadhavan as her debut film and acted in some other films afterwards during the following years.She got familiar to all the audience by acting in the role as 'Parvathy' in the super hit film 'Anubhavangal Palichakal' in 1971.The song scene of her character Parvathi singing the song  'Kalyani Kalavani Chollammini Chollu' also was liked by the audience.She was cast in important roles there after.
She was the heroine opposite Prem Nazir in the film 'Chakravalam'.She was the female lead  as 'Santhamma' opposite Bharat Gopi in the film 'Kodiyettam' directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 1977.
In the film 'Aaravam' directed by Bharathan, Nedumudi Venu,Pratap Pothen,KPAC Lalitha,Ouseppachan Kottayam Santha etc acted.
In the film 'Rathi Nirvedam' directed by Bharathan in 78 she had a well noted role and also in the film 'Kattathe Kilikoodu' as the character 'Indiara Thampi'.
In the film 'T.P.Balagopalan M.A.' she acted as the elder sister of Mohan Lal (Balagoplalan) and wife of Kuthiravattam Pappu.In the film she was draining Mohan Lal's pocket for their expenses and saving their own money.
In the film 'Sanmanasullavarkku Samadhanam' she acted as a nice woman (Karthyayani Amma) and mother of Karthika and two other children.They were living in the rented house which was  owned by  Mohanlal.This comedy film was a big hit.
In the film 'Gandhinagar 2nd Street' in which Mohan Lal and Karthika were the leads, KPAC Lalitha acted as the wife of Sankarady and the daughter of two young girls.Sankarady acted as a Novelist in this film  created much comedy scenes.
In the ht film 'Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu' she acted as the wife of R.V.Panicker(Innocent) and mother of Snehalatha(Urvashy).
In the super hit film 'Vadakkunokki Yanthram' she acted as the mother of the hero character 'Thalathil Dinesan (Sreenivasan).
In the film 'Gajakesari Yogam' directed by P.G.Viswambharan, she was wife of Innocent and mother of heroine Sunitha.The Hindi learning of Innocent and Lalitha created nice comedy in this film.
In the film 'Akkare Akkare Akkare' directed by Priyadarshan she was wife of Sivadasa Menon (Nedumudi Venu).Mohan Lal and Sreenivasan approaching her for clothes to wash was an unforgettable comedy scene.
In the film 'Kottayam Kunjachan' in which Mammootty was the hero and Ranjini,Innocent,Usha,Kunchan etc acted she was wife of Innocent's character Michael.Kunchan coming to the house with a marriage proposal was an unforgettable scene.
In the super hit film 'God Father' she acted as the wife of 'Swaminathan'(Innocent) who married Kochammini (KPAC Lalitha) without the knowledge of his strict father(N.N.Pillai).

In th super hit film 'Amaram'  directed by Bharathan, she portrayed the role as Bhargavi who was the mother of Raghavan (Asokan) and  as the wife of Murali.For her excellent acting in this film she received National award for Best Supporting actress.
In the film 'Vietnam Colony' she played the mother's role of the heroine 'Kanaka'.
When Mohan Lal and Innocent were in search of a rented house and  came to her house by mistake she thought they came for a marriage proposal for her daughter.But when realized the truth she allowed them to stay upstairs which causes a string of comedy scenes in the film.
In the film 'CID Unnikrishnan B.A,B.Ed, she played the mother of Unnikrishnan(Jayaram) and wife of Oduvil Unnikrishnan.
In the film 'Shantam' directed by Jayaraj in which Seema Biswas,I.M.Vijayan,Kalamandalam Gopi etc acted along with her, and she received National Award as the Best supporting actress.
In the film 'Mathilukal' directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, her character 'Narayani' doen not have a visual scene but her presence is manifested by dialogues only which she performed effectively well.
She has earned reputation as a dubbing artist and has given voice for Sarada in films like 'Udayam,Thara,Bhadradeepam' etc, for Nanditha Bose in films like 'Dharmayudham' for Vijayasree in the film 'Padmavyuham' and for Surekha in the film 'Thakara'
She has acted in many T.V.Serials also
Apart from two National award she is recipient of Kerala State Second Best Actress Award four times, in the years.1975,78,1990 and 1991.
She received Asianet Best Supporting actress award three times.
She is recipient of 'Kalaratna Fellowship' by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
She has also received several other awards like 'Premji Award,Thoppil Bhasi Pratibha Award' etc.
