Kavya Madhavan is one of the top heroines of Malayalam Silver Screen for the last 15 years.As a Charming, beautiful actress she is the heartthrob of millions of film viewers.She has acted mainly in Malayalam films and a few Tamil films.She is a trained dancer and has proficiency in some other art forms so that she could win the title 'Kalathilakam' while at School earning the highest score in youth festival competitions.
Kavya Madhavan was born on 19th September 1984 at Neeleswaram, Kasegod district to parents Madhavan and Shyamala.Later the family shifted to Ernakulam.
Her entry into Malayalam films was by the film 'Pookkalam Varaviyi'in 1991 as a child artist.Her role in 'Azhakiya Ravanan' a Mammootty film was well noted in 1996.
She acted in supporting role as Manju Warrier's sister in the hit film 'Irattakuttikalude Achan' in which Jayaram was the hero.In another Jayaram-Manju Warrier film 'Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranaya Kalathu' she acted in supporting role.
She became heroine for the first time in the film 'Chandranudikkunna Dikkil' directed by Lal Jose in 1999 at the age of 15 and continued to act in female main roles of large number of hits and super hits thereafter.
She acted in one of the main roles of 'Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal' opposite Jayaram in the year 2000 which was directed by Sathyan Anthikkad.Her role as the character 'Celin' who was loving the character portrayed by Jayaram was  liked by the audience.This film received National award as the Best feature film in Malayalam.
'Thenkassi Pattanam' was a super hit  film of 2000 for which Kavya received accolades and appreciation.Samyuktha Varma and Geethu Mohandas also acted along with her in this film.Main male actors were Suresh Gopi,Dileep and Lal.
In the film 'Oomapenninu Uriyadapayyan' directed by Vinayan she portrayed a rich girl who could not hear or speak and presented excellent acting skill.Jayasoorya who acted opposite to her as 'Bobby', a mute character also received accolades.This film was remade in Tamil which was also directed by Vinayan  as 'En Mana Vaanil' in 2002 and the pair Jayasoorya-Kavya acted in the Tamil version also.
Kavya was the heroine of 'Meesa Madhavan' in which Dileep acted  in the main role as a clever thief.The film was a big success.
'Sadanandante Samayam' was another hit film in which Dileep and Kavya acted as the main pair.It was about a person who blindly believed in Astrology and depended it for all activities.A prediction about his death date by a fraud astrologer and the consequences are the main theme of the film.
In the film 'Mizhi Randilum' directed by Ranjit in 2003 she depicted dual roles as the characters Bhadra and Bhama.
Dilip and Kavya Madhavan acted in main roles of 'Runway' a super hit film directed by Joshy in 2004.
Kavya Madhavan got the 2004 Kerala State Best Actress award for the film 'Perumazhakkalam'.The film won the National film award for Best film on other social issues in 2005.
Dilip works in Saudi Arabia and Meera Jasmine, his wife lives with her father in Kerala.Dilip kills Vineeth, his room mate in sheer accident and faces death sentence by the Court....Dileep,Meera Jsmine,Vineeth,Ramya Nambeesan,Salim Kumar,Mamukoya etc were the other actors of this film.
Kavya Madhavan played the role of 'Bhadra' in the Tantric theme film 'Anantha bhadram' directed by Santhosh Sivan and received good opinions from viewers and critics.Prithviraj Suklumaran,Manoj K.Jayan,Kalabhavan Mani,Riya Sen,Biju Menon,Revathy etc acted in this film along with her.The film won five awards in the 2005 Kerala State film awards.The film was dubbed to Tamil and Telugu.
'Vadakkumnadhan' was a super hit film of 2006 in which Mohan Lal,Vineeth,Kavya Madhavan and Padmapriya acted in main roles.The film contained super hit songs.
'Classmates' was a blockbuster film of 2006 directed by Lal Jose in which Prthviraj,Jayasurya,Indrajit,Jagathy Sreekumar,Balachandra Menon etc acted.
Kavya portrays  'Thara Kurup' as the daughter of an MLA and she  is also a danseuse who wins competitions at the college in this film.
Dileep as Aravindan and Kavya as 'Anitha' earned the love and accolades of the audience for their roles in the film 'Chakkara Muthu' written and directed by A.K.Lohithadas in the year 2006.
Kavya acted in supporting role of the film 'Naalu Pennungal' directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 2007.
Mammootty and Kavya were the main pair of the film 'Ee Pattanathil Bhootham' in which she acted as the daughter of a Circus Company owner Philipose.
She presented nice acting skill in the film 'Banaras' (2009) directed by Nemam Pushparaj.

Kavya Madhavan presented superb acting skill in the film 'Gaddama' directed by Kamal in 2011 and earned so many awards and appreciation.The film was manifested in a realistic manner and her role as a housemaid received much critical acclaim and was nominated for National award also.She received Kerala State Best Actress award for this role and many other awards from different organisations.
Mammooty and Kavya acted in main roles of the hit film 'Venicile Vyapari' directed by Shafi in 2011.
'Bavuttiyude Namathil' was a well noted film of 2012 in which Mammootty and kavya acted in main roles.
In the film "Lok Pal' directed by Joshy in 2013 Mohan Lal acted opposite to her.She played the role as Dr.Geetha in this film.
Apart from Kerala State Film Awards as Best Actress, she is recipient as Best actress awards for the films Anandabhadram,Gaddama from Kerala Film Critics.She received awards for films  from Filmfare,Asianet,Asia Vision,Vanitha Awards,Mathrubhumi Awards, Amritha TV awards,Kerala Film Audience awards,Sathyan Award,Thikkurissi Foundation award,Bharathan Award and many more.
She wrote and published a book 'Kathayil Alpam Kavyam' which is a collection of her memories.
