ROHINI

Rohini is mainly a Malayalam and and Tamil actress who has also appeared in other south Indian languages and  in Hindi films.She received National Award of special mention and Andhra Pradesh Nandi Award for Best Female actor for the year 1996 for her exceptional performance in the film 'Sthree'.
Rohini is also script writer,writes lyrics and has directed a feature film and many short films as well.
During the 80's and 90's she has acted as heroine or in supporting roles of large number of Malayalam films and acted along with all the eminent heroes of that period.Rahman-Rohini pair was a successful pair of that period and they were utilized by the eminent writer and director P.Padmarajan for his hit film 'Parannu Parannu Parannu'.
She is born in Tamil Nadu and spent her childhood at Chennai.She entered film field at the age of five as a child artist in the year 1976 with the film 'Yasoda Krishna'.
Her entry into Malayalam was as the heroine of the film 'Kakka' opposite 'Ravi' which turned to be a successful film and the hero's name changed as  'Kakka Ravi' afterwards.
'Kuyiline Thedi' directed by M.Mani enhanced her popularity in which Master Raghu acted as one of the main character and  Mohan Lal,Pujappura Ravi,V.D.Rajappan etc acted.A teen age love story was the theme of the film.
Madhu,Mammootty,Seema,Menaka,Raghu,Rohini etc acted in the film 'Thirakkil Alpa Samayam'(84) directed by P.G.Viswambharan.
Sandarbham'' was a hit film directed by Joshi in which Mammootty,Pratapachandran,Rohini etc acted.
Rahman and Rohini were the lead pair of the hit film 'Parannu Parannu Parannu'(84) directed by P.Padmarajan.
'Aarante Mulla Kochu Mulla' was a hit film directed by Balachandra Menon in which Balachandra Menon,Shankar,Rohini,Lizy,Lakshmi etc acted.
'Orikkal Oridathu'(85)was  a successful film directed by Jeassy in which Rahman and Rohini were the lead pair.Rahman acted as the character Sethu and Rohini's character was as Sonia in this film.
'Dhwani' was a huge hit directed by N.P.Abu and it is the only Malayalam film which the veteran Naushad composed music.Rohini acted along with Jayaram and Shobhana in this film.
'Anil Babu' directed 'Adiverukal' in which Mohan Lal,Suresh Gopi,Mukesh,Karthika,Rohini etc acted in 1986.
Nedumudi Venu,Rohini Hattangadi,Balachandra Menon,Rohini and Aranmula Ponnamma were the lead actors of 'Achuvettante Veedu'(87) which was  a well noted film.
Ajith Kumar,Suvalakshmi,Prakash Raj and Rohini were the lead actors of the Tamil film 'Aasai'(95) directed by Vasanth.
She acted along with Kamal Hassan and Abhirami in the film 'Virumandi' (2004) directed by Kamal Hassan.
She acted in the film 'Thamira Bharani' directed by Hari along with Vishal and Mukta George.
She wrote all the songs for the film 'Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey' in 2012.
In her acting career she has acted in more than 250 films.
She is also a noted dubbing  artist and has dubbed for famous heroines like 'Jyothika,Aishwarya Rai,Manisha Koirala,Amala' etc.
She has given voice for Girija Shettar in Mani Ratnam's only Telugu movie 'Geetanjali'.
She is an activist of AIDS awareness and has directed short films for MGR Medical University and Tamil Nadu AIDS control society.She has also produced and directed short film against child labour.
She directed a feature film 'Appavin Meesai' in 2014.
