RATI AGNIHOTRI

When the Bollywood film 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' was released  all over India in 1981, it became an instant hit.The different story concept,Skilful direction of K.Balachander, the beautiful songs and music by Laxmikant Pyarelal,miraculous acting talents of Kamal Hassan and Rati Agnihotri along with other best suited artists,mesmerizing voice of Playback singer S.P.Balasubramanyam etc were aspects for stupendous success of this film.In the south Kamal Hassan and S.P.Balasubramanyam were very popular. Even though Rati Agnihotri  hailed from  Punjab , she had already gained much  popularity as a South Indian Film star by then.
Rati Agnihotri was a resident of Chennai for several years  because her father was employed there and the whole family was staying there during that period.She was born in a Punjabi Sikh Family on 10 Dec 1960.She was allowed to take up modelling at the age of 10.She was interested in arts and cultural activities from childhood itself.She studied at a Chennai School and film director Bharati Raja spotted her during a school function in which she was an active participant.He was searching a new face for his new film and thus she became heroine in his film 'Puthiya Varpukal' opposite Bhagya Raj in 1979.It was the debut film of Bhagyaraj also.That film was a hit and Bharati Raja again cast her in his next venture 'Niram Maratha Pookkal' which was also a blockbuster film.Thus Rati Agnihotri became a household name in Tamil Nadu.In a short span of three years she could appear in several nice films opposite stars like Kamal Hassan and Rajani Kant.She was also able to act in big projects of Telugu and Kannada during those period.
Rati Agnihotri could not return to Chennai to act in any South Indian Languages for a decade after the stunning victory of 'Ek Duje Keliye' since the Bollywood Cinema consumed her whole time afterwards.She could act opposite all eminent actors like Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan during that period in hits like 'Coolie',  'Hukumat'  'Farz aur Kanoon' and many  many more.
In 1985 she was married to architect and businessman Anil Virwani and had to withdraw herself  from the film field for a long period.Meanwhile she became  a mother 
and when that boy became 16 years of age she returned back to silver screen by
 acting in the film 'Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi' in 2001.She portrayed  a glamorous mother role in that film and followed by that she was cast in several other films in mother roles and supporting roles.After 20 years gap she could act in a Tamil film 'Majunu' in 2001.She appeared in a Malayalam film 'Anyar' in 2003 for the first time in her film career and in an English film 'An Ode to Lost Love' in the same year.She could act in a Bengali film in 2008.
She used to act occasionally in stage plays and T.V.Serials.Her husband owns a shopping Mall at Pune and she designs some craft works and materials there.She is involved in social causes like AIDS and Cancer.She has already acted in Hindi,Tamil,Telugu,Kannada,Malayalam,Bengali,Bhojpuri,Punjabi,English and still active on the silver screen.
Her sister Anita Agnihotri(Miss India) lives in Poland and owns a Restaurant there.Rati Agnihotri's son has also entered film field as an actor.

PADMINI KOLHAPURE

During childhood days Padmini Kolhapure entered film field as a member of the chorus group for singing a song for the film 'Yadon Ki Baraat' and again  later sang songs for films 'Kitab' , Dushman Dost' etc  with her elder sister Shivangi.Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor is the husband of her sister Shivangi.
Padmini Kolhapure  was born on Nov 1, 1965 in Maharashtra State and her father 'Pandarinath Kolhapure' is a classical singer. Her  mother held a job in an airline.
Singer Asha Bhonsle suggested her name to Dev Anand who gave her role as a child artist in 'Ishq ZIshq Ishq'. She could  again act as Baby Padmini Kolhapure in  some other films like 'Dream Girl',
 'Sajan Bina Suhagan' etc.Her appearance in the  film 'Gehrayee' was very much appreciated.The most applauded role as a child artist was that of Raj Kapoor's
 film 'Satyam Sivam Sundaram'(1977).In that film she played the role as Young 'Roopa' (The mature Roopa's role was handled by Zeenat Aman).
She became a mature artist at the age of 15 and the supporting artist  role in the film 'Insaf Ka Tarasu' was presented brilliantly by Padmini Kolhapure in 1980.The film was Produced and directed by B.R.Chopra in which Raj Babbar,Zeenat Aman,Iftekhar,Simi Garewal,etc were in  important  roles.She earned Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for this film.Filmfare Awards for Best Editing and Best Dialogues were also given to this film.
Nassir Hussain made her heroine in his film 'Zamana Ko Dikhana Hai' opposite 
Rishi Kapoor.The film was not a big success  but Raj Kapoor utilized  the same pair to play key  lead roles in his film 'Prem Rog' which became a smashing hit of 82.
In 1982, another film earned accolades for her which was directed by Subhash Ghai.It was 'Vidhata' in which Dilip Kumar,Sanjay Dutt,Padmini Kolhapure,Suresh  Oberoi etc were the actors.
'Souten' was another blockbuster film which was released in 1983 in which Rajesh Khanna,Tina Munim,Padmini Kolhapure,Prem Chopra and Pran were in important  roles.The song 'Shayad meri shadi' became very popular.
!983 witnessed the rise of a  future superstar 'Anil Kapoor'  who acted opposite Padmini Kolhapure in the film 'Woh Saat Din.The screen play of this film was written by Tamil film 'Actor,Director and Producer'  K.Bhagyaraj.It was remake of Tamil film 'Antha Ezhu Naatkal' which was written and directed by K.Bhagyaraj.It was the first film in which Anil Kapoor acted as  hero.
In 1985 her film 'Pyar Jhukta Nahin' opposite Midhun Chakraborty was a super hit.In this film Padmini Kolhapure acted as a rich girl who falls in love with a middle class photographer.The film earned her Filmfare best Actress nomination.
In that year another film earned her much appreciation which was 'Insaf Main Karoonga'.Rajesh Khanna and Tina Munim were the lead pair of this film.
Padmini Kolhapure married Producer Pradeep Sharma and withdrew herself from films for a long gap.
She made a come back and acted in two Marathi films 'Manthan' and 'Chimnee 
Pakhra' in 2004.She appeared in 2006 horror film 'Eight Shani'.
In 2012 she appeared in a Malayalam film 'Karma Yogi' directed by V.K.Prakash.This film is an adaptation of Shakespeare's  'Hamlet'
Padmini Kolhapure's younger sister Tejaswini Kolhapure is also an actress.
Padmini Kolhapure received Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1980 for film 'Insaf Ka Tarasu' and  Filmfare Best Actress Award in 1982 for film 'Prem Rog'.
As a playback singer she could sing in some films like 'Vidhata', 'Hum Intezar Karenge', 'Sadak Chap' etc.She could release her own music album also.
