Jaya Bhaduri astonished millions of film viewers by her remarkably superb acting skill in several excellent films of 70's and 80's.She is having inborn acting skills which she got chance to sharpen it at   the 'Film and Television Institute of India'  from where she secured a gold medal.Her authentic acting talent of perfection was visible in a number of fantastic films like 'Guddi,Uphaar,Zanjeer,Kora Kagaz,Parichay,Chupke Chupke,Abhiman,Koshish,Mili,Silsila,Sholay' and many more.
Jaya Bhaduri was born on 9 April 1948 at Calcutta, West Bengal to parents Tarun Kumar Bhaduri and Indira Bhaduri.Her father Tarun Kumar Bhaduri was a writer, journalist and stage artiste.
Jaya Bhaduri was good at studies and  other activities like N.C.C. She got Best All India N.C.C. Cadet Award during republic day celebrations in 1966.
Jaya Bhaduri entered film field by acting in the film 'Mahanagar' which was filmed by Satyajit Ray when she was 15 years old.Later she joined Film Institute and passed out  with a gold medal.
In 1971 her performance in the film 'Guddi' directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee was received with applauses.
Jaya Bhaduri was the heroine of several 'Middle Cinema' of those period which were written and directed by eminent personalities like Gulzar.
'Guddi' was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and was written by Gulzar.Dharmendra and Jaya Bhaduri were the main pair in the film which earned good response from the audience.Amitabh Bachchan,Pran and Omprakash acted in guest roles in that film.
'Uphaar' was Rajshri Productions film of 1971 and was based on a short story written by Rabindranath Tagore.The film was selected as the 'Best Foreign Language Film' at the 45th Academy Awards.
Film 'Parichay' written and directed by Gulzar in 1972 earned good opinion.
She presented remarkable acting style in the comedy film 'Piya ka Ghar' directed by Basu Chatterjee.
'Koshish' is an exceptionally marvellous film with a different type of theme and Jaya Bhaduri and Sanjeev Kumar presented intrinsic acting skill at par.It is written and directed by Gulzar.
'Abhiman' was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in 1973.Jaya Bhaduri got Filmfare Best Actress award for it.
'Kora Kagaz' in 1974 earned her Filmfare best actress award and it was

directed by Sanjay Mukherjee.
Her performances in films 'Sholay' and 'Mili' of 1975 is also unforgettable.
In 1979 she received Filmfare best actress award for the film 'Nauker' which was directed by Ismail Memon.Her role as servant Geeta was well appreciated by the audience and critics.
She married Amitabh Bachchan in 1973 and took a gap from films after the nice film 'Silsila' of 1981.
She returned to the film field by acting in Govind Nihalani's film 'Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa' in 1998.She then appeared in films like 'Fiza', 'Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham' , 'Kal Ho Na Ho' which garnished her with awards and nominations.
Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan is the holder of Nine Filmfare awards out of which three are Best Actress Awards and three Supporting Actress Awards.She is on the top with actress  'Nutan' in this regard.
She got International Indian Film Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress in the year 2001,2002 and 2004.
She got Filmfare Life Achievement Award in the year 2007.
She is the recipient of several Life time Achievement Awards and other awards from prestigious organisations.
She got 'Padma Shri' from Government of India in 1992.
Jaya Bachchan is a member of the 'Rajya Sabha', upper house of Indian Parliament.
Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan has acted in a Bangladeshi Film 'Meherjaan' in 2011.
