CHITRA

Chitra was very attractive and  a cute slim young girl when she acted opposite
Mohan Lal in the 1983 film 'Aattakalasam'.A song scene in that film 'Nanamakunnu Meni novunnu' became the  biggest hit and the audience loved  that enchanting  song sequence so much.Still the new generation also love that song and are interested to see that song scene on T.V. Channels.
In the film 'Panchagni' Chitra acted as the character 'Sarada',  wife of Villaionous character 'Rajan' which was portrayed by Murali.Chitra's character Sarada was a nice girl in the film and Sarada singing the song 'Aa Rathri Manju poyi...' was unforgettable.That song scene filled actress Geetha's character with emotions.
In the film 'Amaram' directed by Bharathan  which was written by Lohithadas, Chitra portrayed an important character as 'Chandrika' who was
loving 'Achootty' and hoped to become his wife.But unfortunately it did not
materialize and she had to marry 'Damodaran'(portrayed by Zainudeen).The song sequence 'Vikara naoukayumayi thiramalakal..' filled heartfelt sorrow
to each and every audience by the excellent acting skill of Mammootty and Chitra in that scene.The deep agony was brilliantly expressed by both.
Aattakkalasam was a super hit of director Sasikumar and he gave important roles in his other films of 80's for Chitra.'Pathamudayam' was a film directed by Sasikumar in 1985 in which Mohan Lal,Urvashy,M.G.Soman,Chitra etc acted.
In the 1986 film 'Sobharaj' directed by Sasikumar Mohan Lal acted in title role as Shobharaj and Madhavi,Priya,Chitra etc acted in it.
'Rajavazhcha' was another super hit film of 1990 directed by Sasi Kumar in which Suresh Gopi,SaiKumar,Thilakan,Ranjini,Chitra etc were in the cast.
"Parallel College' was a film directed by Thulasidas in which Chitra acted as 
character 'Sudha'.Suresh Gopi and Geetha were the lead pair.
In 1993 I.V.Sasi narrated the rivalry of Mundakkal Sekharan and  Neelakantan
through the super duper hit film 'Devasuram'.Mohan Lal and Napoleon presented wonderful acting talents.Chitra handled the role as 'Subhadramma'
in this film.
'Advaitham' which was a blockbuster film of 1991 directed by Priyadarshan 
received critical acclaim.Chitra acted as 'Karthy' in this film of Mohan Lal.
'Kalikkalam' was Mammootty film of director Sathyan Anthikkad in which Mammootty portrayed the role as a bugler.Chitra acted as character 'Ramani'.



'Ekalavyan' which was a  big success film of 'Shaji Kailas' in which Suresh Gopi,Geetha,Narendra Prasad,Vijaya Raghavan,Mathu etc acted Chitra had 
an important role.
In the 2001 film of Lohithadas 'Soothradharan' Dileep and Meera Jasmine were
in the main roles.Chitra handled an important role in this film.
Chitra is acting in Tamil,Kannada and Telugu films as well.Her Kannada films
"Hrudaya Hrudaya, Chandu,Pakka Chukka,Darshan,Kadhalae Kadhalae,Uppi Dada MBBS, Aishwarya,Kalasipalya,Hatavadiv etc are all hits.
"Oorkkavalan,Thiruppu Munai,Parambariyam,Periya Kudumbam,Anbulla Durogi"
etc are some of the Tamil  films acted by Chitra.

"Oorkkavalan' was 1987 film directed by "Manobala' in which Rajani Kanth was the hero.Radhika and Chitra acted in main female roles.
'Thiruppu Munai' was 1989 film  directed by 'Kalaivanan Kannadasan'.Karthik and Chitra acted as lead pair in this Tamil Film.Somayajulu acted as Chitra's father in this film.'Periya Kudumbam' was a Tamil  Film of 1996 directed by K.S.Ravi Kumar in which Prabhu and Kanaka acted in lead roles.Chitra is still 
acting occasionally in Films.

RAKHEE

Rakhee Mazumdar Gulzar donned several unforgettable characters in Bollywood films  in lead roles and supporting roles for a long span of about four decades in perfect finesse.
She was born in Ranaghat of West Bengal on India's independence day, 15
August 1947.
Rakhee's family were living in the Eastern  part of Bengal where East Pakisthan was formed on Partition and they moved to West Bengal when Partition took place.
In her teen age she was married to a Bengali film director 'Ajay Biswas' which lasted for a short period only.
In 1967 she acted in a Bengali film 'Badhu Baron' which received much critical acclaim and her acting skill was noted by Bollywood actors like Sunil Kumar and top line   directors of Bollywood also.
Thus she got roles in Hindi films and a film produced by  Rajashri productions in the name 'Jeevan Mrityu' was released in 1970 with Dharmendra in lead role.The film was  super hit and she became an established  actress of Bollywood.
She earned much name and  fame by the 1971 blockbuster super hit film 'Sharmeelee' with
Shashi Kapoor.This pair was liked by the audience and she was cast in nine films opposite Shashi Kapoor out of which five were box office success while the other four earned critical acclaim.
With Amitabh Bachachan she paired in several pictures which were mostly
blockbuster films and smash hits.Their romantic pair was extremely lovable
in several films like "Kabhi Kabhie,Kasme Vaade,Muquader ka Sikkander,
Trishul,Kaala Pathar" etc.While acting as love pair of Amitabh Bachchan she 
did not hesitate to act as his  sister-in-law or even as his mother in films like "Shaan,Shakti and Lawaris".That is the
dedication she has shown as an actress and it is known widely that she was
selective about  her films and characters.Rakhee did not try to increase the number of films but to act in good films and to  create good impression as a versatile actress by selecting appropriate roles.
Towards the mid of 80's she used to play elderly supporting roles mostly as affectionate mother  which were 
also excellent like in the film 'Ram Lakhan', 'Khal Nayak'  'Karan Arjun' 'Baadshah' etc.
Rakhee occasionally appeared in some Bengali films and earned appreciation
from Bengali viewers too.She got National film award as supporting actress for Bengali film 'Subho  Mahurat'
The success of 'Sharmeelee' helped her to achieve the position as one of the
top heroines of Bollywood.That film contained nice songs.
'Reshma Aur Shera' was Sunil Dutt's production in which Sunil Dutt was the hero and
Waheeda Rehman was equally in an important role as Rakhee.Amitabh Bachchan also
acted in it and it was the first   film of  Sanjay Dutt who appeared  in a small role.Music director Jaidev got National award for this film.
In the year 1972 Rakhee had successful films with Shashi Kapoor and Rajesh 
Khanna.
The 1973 film 'Heera Panna' of Dev Anand was a huge success.Zeenat Aman
was also having equally important  role as Rakhee in the film which dealt with a theme of 'Diamond' robbery.The songs and sequences were brilliant.
'Daag' was a fantastic film for which the director Yash Chopra received Filmfare Best director award and Rakhee Best Supporting actress award.Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore were in lead roles in this film.
Film 'Tapasya' earned National award as 'Best Popular film providing wholesome entertainment'.
'Kabhi Kabhie' of 1976 earned tremendous success critically and financially.
Amitabh Bachchan,Shashi Kapoor,Rishi Kapoor,Rakhee,Neetu Singh,Simi Garewal,Parikshit Sahni etc acted in it.Filmfare award was given for Lyricist,Singer and Music director for this film.
In 1978 film 'Trishna' of Sanjeev Kumar,Shashi Kapoor was box office hit and   accomplishment of
character 'Aarti Gupta' was nicely done by Rakhee.

'Trishul' of 1978 in which Amitabh,Sanjeev Kumar,Shashi Kapoor,Rakhee,Hema Malini,Waheeda Rehman,Poonam Dhillon etc acted and Musical hit Muquadar ka Sikkander which was  the second biggest  hit of the decade, were all huge success and unforgettable nice films.
Yash Chopra's 'Kaala Pathar', Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Jurmana'  Sanjeev Kumar film 'Shriman Shrimati' etc were all films which received  accolades.
Rakhee married  well renowned lyricist,writer and film director 'Gulzar' but they
were separated after the birth of their daughter Meghna Gulzar.The child was
with Gulzar and she graduated in film making from a University in US.She directed films like 'Just Married' 'Dus Kahaniyaan" etc.She authored the Biography of her father, 'Gulzar' in 2004.
Rakhee received  Filmfare supporting actress awards for films 'Daag' and 'Ram Lakhan'.She got Best actress Filmfare award for 'Tapasya'.In 1974 she got
National film award which was  special souvenir for her role in '27 Down'.
She got National film award  for Supporting actress for Bengali film 'Subho Mahurat'.
In 2003 she received 'Padma Shri' Award from Government of India.

PARAVUR BHARATHAN

Paravur Bharathan is a very senior actor of Malayalam cinema who joined the
field in 1951 and was active till 2009.
He used to act in character roles,comedy roles and  also  manifested effectively
several villain roles.
Paravur Bharathan was born in 1929 at Vavakkad of Moothakunnam near  Vadakkan Paravur.
During his school studies his father died and because of financial problems he
had to discontinue his studies.He worked with Drama troupes since he had a
flair for acting.
He joined later in a Professional drama troupe which was started by Sebastian Kunju Kunju Bhagavathar,Augastine Joseph etc  in the name 'Kerala Kala Samithi' and earned name and fame.The role in the drama 'Mattoly' which was written by Muttathu Varkey and the role in the drama 'Samrat Asoka' were very much appreciated.He could also act in the drama troupe of Jose Prakash.
These acquaintance with several people in film industry helped him to enter
in to cinema field  as an actor with the film 'Rakthabandham' in 1951.Cherthala Vasudeva Kurup,Ambalapuzha Meenakshi,S.D.Subbaiah etc acted in that film.Later he was cast in films such as "kerala Kesari,Marumakal' etc. and became a part of Malayalam film industry.
In 1964 he acted in 'Karutha Kai' which was a film directed by M.Krishnan Nair
as the villain.The song "Panchavarna Thatha pole Konchi vanna penne" was a Qawali song scene shown as sung by Paravur Bharathan and group in the cinema.
Later on he could act in several successful films of Malayalam such as" School Master,Althara,Kadathukaran, Kattu Mallika,Rest House,Lottery Ticket,Danger biscuit,OruPenninte Katha,Marunattil Oru Malayali,Adimakal,Olavum Theeravum,Urvashy Bharathy,Rajahamsam" etc.
In the President's first Gold Medal film of Malayalam 'Chemmeen' Paravur Bharathan also acted as one of the fishermen and as a  friend of Sathyan's character 'Palani'.
He was in a notable role in 1982 film 'Odukkam Thudakkam' which was directed by famous novelist Malayattoor Ramakrishnan.
In the film 'Mandanmar Londonil' of 1983 he acted as a villager who wears
only western style dress always and boasts to the people that previously he stayed at London for several years and describes about London.Once some of  the villagers got a chance to go to London including the character of Paravur Bharathan and the comedy sequences there at London  were the theme of the film.
In the film 'Ee Nadu' directed by I.V.Sasi he acted as an aide of 'Abkari' Contractor Karunakaran(T.G.Ravi).Once Paravur Bharathan and his gang had a fight with their opponents and they were defeated.Paravur Bharathan and gang had to flee for their life and reporting about this to T.G.Ravi by Bharathan created much laughter in cinema halls.
In the film 'Mazhavil Kavady' directed by Sathyan Anthikkad Paravur Bharathan
acted as an associate of Innocent who was a rich man in that village.Bharathan persuades innocent to buy a secondhand car.Innocent buys



a car which in the trial run by Paravur Bharathan  itself hit a tree was a comedy scene in the film.Jayaram throwing him with a coconut also created much comedy.
In the film 'Aakasakottayile Sulthan' he acts  as a person who walks during sleep
unknowingly.This disease creates much misunderstanding among neighbors 
and laughter in theaters.
In the film 'Pattana Pravesam' Mohan Lal and Sreenivasan are CIDs Dasan and
Vijayan engaged in a case investigation.Their approach would be always wrong and foolish but ultimately they wins and capture the culprits.Here in this film N.L.Bala Krishnan and Paravur Bharathan are two innocent bird watchers but our CIDs suspect them as criminals creates nice comedy.


Dr.Pasupathy was also a comedy picture in which Innocent acted in the title role.Nedumudi Venu acted as Unnikrishnan Nair who was the Panchayat President and father of Amminikutty(Parvathy).Paravur Bharathan acted as 
'Parameswara Kurup' an associate of Unnikrishnan Nair.
'In Harihar Nagar' was also a nice  action-comedy film directed by Siddique-Lal 
and in this film Paravur Bharathan acted as the father of heroine.There were several comedy sequences in this film.

Paravur Bharathan married 'Thankamony' who acted with him in the drama 'Mattoly' and the couple have  four children.
Paravur Bharathan is presently  taking rest at home and not acting in cinema because of health problems.

JAYA PRADA

Jaya Prada is a highly talented film actress hailing from Andhra Pradesh who
became very famous all over India and abroad  by acting in Hindi,Telugu,Tamil,Kannada,Malayalam,Bengali and Marathi films.She is active in the tinsel world from 1976 on wards.
Her real name is Lalitha Rani and was born on 3 Apr 1962 at Rajamundri in Andhra Pradesh.Her father Krishna Rao  was a Telugu film financier and so her entrance to
film world was quite easy for her.She was trained in classical dances and music  from the childhood itself and at the age of 14 she was able to debut in Telugu cinema.She performed a dance at the anniversary function of  her school and an impressed film producer who was present among the audience
gave her a dance sequence role in his film.That dance scene  was noted by other  eminent film directors and producers which all liked that girl and she became a busy actress.Her film 'Anthuleni Katha' revealed her acting talents and another film
'Siri Siri Muvva' of director K.Viswanath made her a star.She portrayed a mute
girl having excellent dancing skill in that movie.With face expressions and gestures she conveyed  her feelings of that character with par excellence  and it was an amazing
experience for herself as well as the audience.
The film and song sequences of 1977 NTR fim 'Adavi Ramadu' was liked by the audience as the film was a huge success at the box Office.During 77,78 and 79 she appeared in several films of NTR,ANR.Krishna,Shobhan Babu etc.
In 1979 Jayaprada became famous in Tamil Nadu and Kerala with the release





of K.Balachander directed Tamil film 'Ninaithale Inikkum'.17 year old Jaya Prada was a marvelous beauty in that film and Kamal Hassan and Rajani Kanth acted in equally important roles in it  which was shot in Singapore.During those days and for another  ten more years she was superbly 
attractive and her smile was very much liked by the film goers.Eminent film producer Sathyajit Ray described her as one of the most beautiful women in the world.
In 79 itself she entered in to Bollywood with the film 'Sargam' which was directed by K.Viswanath and it was the remake of his Telugu film 'Siri Siri Muvva'.The film was a super duper hit.By her next  Hindi film 'Kaam Chor'
which was also directed by K.Viswanath, Jaya Prada became a part of Bollywood film industry too.
Her 1983 Telugu film 'Sagara Sangamam' which was directed by K.Viswanath
was a highly acclaimed super duper hit.Kamal Hassan acted as a classical dancer in that film.This movie was dubbed to Tamil as 'Salangai Oli' and dubbed to Malayalam in the same name as 'Sagara Sangamam'.
Jaya Prada acted in several films of Jeetendra and Amitabh Bachchan.
'Mawaali' was a film of 1983 in which Jeetendra,Jayaprada and Sridevi acted.
In half a dozen Hindi films Sridevi and Jaya Prada acted together.
The 1984 super hit film 'Haisiyat' was directed by Dasari Narayana Rao in which Jaya Prada acted along with Jeetendra.
In 1985 super duper hit film 'Hoshiyar' was released in which Jeetendra,Jaya Prada and Meenakshi Sheshadri appeared together.
'In the film 'Aakhree Rasta' of 1986 Amitabh Bachchan portrayed dual role and the film written and directed by K.Bhagyaraj was the remake of Bhagyaraj's
Tamil film 'oru Kaidhiyin Diary'.
In the 1989 film 'Gharana' Rishi Kapoor and Govinda were in pivot roles.
'Souten ki Beti' was Jeetendra,Rekha,Jaya Prada film  of 89.In 1991 in the film 'Farishtay' Rajanikanth ,Dharmendra,Vinod Khanna,Jayaprada,Sridevi and Swapna acted.
Her Telugu film 'Devta', Hindi films  'Tohfa' and 'Paatal Bharavi' etc earned 
critical acclaim and appreciation of the audience.
Her film 'Devadoothan' in Malayalam of 2000 along with Mohan Lal was a nice film in which her character 'Angelina Ignatious' drew so much sympathy from the viewers.
In 2011 she acted along with Mohan Lal in the Malayalam film 'Pranayam'
which was directed by 'Blessy'.Anupam Kher also acted in this film.The film
earned wide admiration and critical acclaim.It bagged several awards and
Jaya Prada also got Best Actress award from several organisations for this film.
Jaya Prada married film producer Srikant Nahata in 1986.

She is actively involved in social issues and politics.In 1996 she was nominated to Rajya Sabha,Parliament Upper House.She became elected member of Parliament(Lok Sabha) in 2004 and 2009.
She got best actress award(Telugu) for film  Sagara Sangamam from Filmfare in 1993.
She got Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007
She received Nandi Special Award in 1976 for film 'Anthuleni Katha'.

K.R.VIJAYA

K.R.Vijaya is an exceptionally fantastic actress who is active in the tinsel world for the last five decades.She is blessed with a cute highly expressive face and emotive voice quality.Her smile is very attractive.She could portray any type of roles and shines well to display sentimental and sorrowful roles.
In her youthful days she was looking gorgeous and marvelous  but  preferred to act in dignified roles only.In Tamil,Telugu and Malayalam she presented
somewhat  equal number of films.In Kannada she acted in a half a dozen films and she appeared in a Hindi film also with Raj Kumar and Feroz Khan in 1965.Altogether in her career K.R.Vijaya 
acted in more than 400 films.
The Hindi film ' Ooncha Log' received critical acclaim and was a success and she got more offers from Hindi films but since she was very busy in the South Indian Films she did not accept that offers.
K.R.Vijaya's mother was from Kerala and her Father was from Andhra Pradesh.Her father acted in the drama troupe of M.R.Radha.During her childhood period  she stayed at Palani in Tamil Nadu.She was born on 30 Nov 1948.
K.R.Vijaya debuted in the Tamil film 'Karpagam' in 1963 directed by K.S.Gopalakrishnan.Interestingly  K.S.Gopalakrishnan directed her 100th film
'Nadhiyil Muthu' also.
K.R.Vijaya could act with all eminent actors of  Tamil,Telugu and Malayalam 
like MGR,Sivaji Ganesan,Gemini Ganesan,Jai Shankar,Kamal Hassan,Rajani Kanth,Muthu Raman,NTR,Sathyan,Prem Nazir etc.
In 1964 'Server Sundaram' was a film by K.Balachander in which Nagesh acted as a waiter along with Muthuraman.K.R.Vijaya was the heroine of that film.The film earned Filmfare award as Best film of the year.
'Sakunthala', a Malayalam film directed by Kunchakko in 1965 earned her much
appreciation.She presented brilliant acting at that  young age of 17 and she was a
a stunning beauty in those days.The hero of that film was Prem Nazir.The film
was a super duper hit which contained melodious songs by Vayalar-Devarajan team which are still popular.
'The Tamil film 'Saraswathi Sapadham' of 1966 was a blockbuster film in which
Savithri,Devika and Padmini appeared as the three Goddesses Lakshmi,Parvathy and Saraswathi.Among them had a dispute about their powers was the theme of the film.K.R.Vijaya acted as a character 'Selvambika' in this film.Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan also acted in it.
                            In 1966 'Odayil Ninnu' was a nice film  which was based
on a novel written by P.Kesava Dev.Sathyan presented the character as  a rikshaw puller by name 'Pappu' which earned him much prestige.Prem Nazir was having equal importance as Sathyan in that film in which Kaviyoor Ponnamma had a pivot 
role too.
'Anarkali' was a beautiful historical Malayalam film of 1966 directed by Kunchakko in which K.R.Vijaya portrayed the beautiful court dancer Anarkali.Prince Salim was acted by Prem Nazir and Sathyan acted as Emperor Akbar.The songs of that film are still very popular.
'Iru Malargal' of 1967 was a Tamil  film  of Sivaji Ganesan in which a man caught in between his lady love and his loving wife was the theme.
'Anweshichu Kandethiyilla' of 1968 was a fantastic film of Sathyan and K.R.Vijaya which was directed by P.Bhaskaran.It contained nice songs.K.R.Vijaya portrayed the role as a nurse in this film.It received National award as best feature film in Malayalam.






'Annai Velankanni' was about the famous  Church at Velankanni and the film was a huge success.The experiences of some devotees of that Shrine was shown in the film.
'Ayodhya' was a 1975 Malayalam film in which Prem Nazir and K.R.Vijaya  were in the important roles.In this film Kishore Kumar sang a Malayalam song "A B C D Chettan KD aniyanu pedi" which was liked by the audience.
'John Jaffer Janardhanan' was 1982 film of I.V.Sasi taken in Malayalam and it was the remake of Hindi film 'Amar Akbar Anthony'.Mammootty,Ratheesh and Raveendran acted in main roles of this film.
'Parannu Parannu Parannu' was a Malayalam film directed by Padmarajan  in which Rehman and Rohini acted as the main pair.
'Sreedharante Onnam Thirumurivu' was a Sathyan Anthikkad's Malayalam film in which Mammootty was the hero  as a man who was running a car repairing workshop.
The search for a bride to him was the theme of the film.
'Appu' was a Malayalam film of 1990 in which Mohan Lal was the hero.Nedumudi Venu,Murali,Vijaya Raghavan etc acted in key roles.K.R.Vijaya
as the mother of Murali who loves the character 'Appu' of Mohan Lal was excellent.This  film also contained  beautiful songs.
'Mr.Brahmachari' was a Thulasidas's Malayalam film of 2003 in which K.R.Vijaya acted as the mother of heroine Meena.In this film she was the mother of four girls.
In the 2010 Telugu film 'Simha' she acted as the grandmother of hero Balakrishna.Namatha and Nayanthara acted in this film.The hero Nandamuri Balakrishna received 'Nandi' award for this film.
