ZEENAT AMAN

Enchanting actress Zeenat Aman with her gorgeous figure and cute smile entered in to the hearts of young men of 70's with the success of Dev Anand film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.She acted as the drug addict sister 'Janice' of Super Star Dev Anand in that film.The song and song sequence of 'Dum Maro Dum' thrilled  millions of film goers and she  suddenly rose to the heights of popularity.Youngsters loved her stylish appearance and pretty face so that the
media also competitively put her as the cover girl of several top line magazines of those period.
Zeenat Aman was born on 19 Nov 1951 to Script writer Amanulla Khan.Her mother was a Hindu. Her father died when Zeenat was only 13 years old and her mother got remarried to a German.Zeenat graduated from St.Xavier's College,Mumbai and went to California for further studies with a scholarship.
When she came back she joined as journalist of 'Femina' magazine and later turned to modelling.She became second runner up of Miss India contest and Won 
Miss Asia Pacific in 1970.
Her debut to the film industry was with  the film 'Hulchul' and then  she appeared in the film 'Hangama' along with Kishore Kumar but both the films were flops.At that stage she got last minute chance to portray the role of 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' which dealt with the life style of Hippies.The film was a roaring success and there after several hit films were released with Dev Anad-Zeenat Aman Pair."Heera Panna,Ishq Ishq Ishq,Prem Shastra, Warrant, Darling Darling, Kalabaaz" were blockbuster films of Dev Anand and Zeenat during 73-77.
Big banners and eminent directors utilized her for gigantic success projects.B.R.Chopra,Raj Kapoor,Man Mohan Desai,Feroz Khan,Nazeer Hussain Manoj Kumar, Sakti Samanta,Prakasah Mehra etc made memorable films of Zeenat Aman.
She was very bold enough to reveal her glamour and play unconventional roles also and so viewers could enjoy films like 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', 'Roti Kapada aur Makan', Ajnabee'  ' Manoranjan'  ' Prem Shastra' etc.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna's songs are still popular.The lyrics were written by 
Anand Bakshi,Music was by RD Burman and 'Dum Maro Dum' was sung by Asha Bhosle for which she received Filmfare Best playback female singer award.For the role in that film, Zeenat Aman got Best Supporting actress award from Filmfare.
'Yadon Ki Baarat' was 1973 film of Dharmendra,Zeenat Aman,Vijay Arora, directed by Nazeer Hussain which boosted the acting career of Zeenat.
The song 'Chura Liya Hai' sung by Asha Bhosle is very popular.
The film and role of Zeenat Aman in Dev Anand's 'Heera Panna'  received accolades for her.
'Roti Kapada Makan' was written,produced and directed by Manoj Kumar, which turned to be the  highest grosser of 1974.
'Manoranjan' was a film of Shammi Kapoor,Sanjeev Kumar, directed by Shammi Kapoor   in which Zeenat portrayed an unconventional role.
'Warrant' of Dev Anand and Zeenat pair was a super duper hit.





'Dharam Veer' was film of Man Mohan Desai with the theme 'separated and reunited'.Dharmendra,Jeetendra,Zeenat Aman,Neetu Singh,etc were in the cast.'Hum Kisise Kum Naheen' was super hit film of Nazeer Hussain in which Rishi Kapoor,Kajal Kiran,Zeenat Aman,Amjad Khan etc acted.
'Satyam Sivam Sundaram' produced and directed by Raj Kapoor in 1978 in which she was shown attractively as an art piece is still admired by many viewers.

Her last appearance as lead role was for film 'Gawahi' in 1989.

Zeenat Aman married Mazher Khan in 1985 but he died in 1998.She is living with her two  sons at present and occasionally appears in films also.
