SARIKA

Many of the film viewers will be still remembering the  'Rajashree Productions' film  'Geet Gaata Chal'.The scenic beauty of its locations, enchanting music by Ravindra Jain, and the cute lovely young pair Sachin and Sarika etc can not be forgotten.With that film both Sachin and Sarika entered in to the heart of millions so that several other Hindi and Marathi films were made with them as the centre characters.
Sarika was born  as 'Sarika Thakur' in New Delhi on 3 June 1962.Her entry in to films was as at a tender age as a child artiste and initially  she acted as a boy.She could act in several films as a child artiste and also acted in Children's films before acting in 'Geet Gaata Chal'.
Sarika later worked in a number of films with all eminent actors.She married Kamal Hassan whom she worked with in the film 'Karishma' in 1984.After marriage she moved to Chennai and appeared in less number of films only during those periods.
After divorce with him,  again she became active and worked in some good projects which boosted her acting talents.She could grab National Award for Best Actress for the film 'Parzania' in 2005.
In 2000 she was the recipient of National Award for Costume Design for the film 'Hey Ram'.
In 2006 she appeared along with Amitabh Bachchan,Hema Malini,Salman Khan in the film 'Baabul' in the role of  'Pushpa Kaur' -a widow.
In 2007 she has acted with 'Vinay Pathak',  'Rajat Kapoor' , 'Milind Soman' etc in the film 'Bheja Fry' which became a big success at the box Office.
A thriller film 'Manorama Six feet Under' which was directed by 'Navdeep Singh' in 2007  saw her in the character  as 'Manorama', a small but important role.
In 2012  the film 'Shoe bite' released in which Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika acted in pivot roles.It is  the story of a man in his early 60's and  direction is by Shoojit Sircas.

NEETU SINGH

Neetu Singh, a very active,  energetic  girl with good figure and nice attractive 
features conquered the minds of young and old audiences  alike when she acted as heroine in Hindi films.She entered film field as a child artiste and upgraded to a heroine who was elegant, beautiful, always pleasant, and possessing full of vitality.She was therefore more appropriate to act energetic positive roles.She was but able to handle any kind of roles fantastically well.
Neetu Singh is born in a Sikh family of Chandigarh but she studied and lived in Mumbai.She entered film field at the age of eight.Her role as a dancer and the dance number with the popular song 'Lekar Hum Deewane Dil' in the film 'Yaadon Ki Baarat'(73) was  well noticed.That film was also a big hit.She got 
mature roles continuously thereafter. 
Neetu Singh during those active young days could act as heroine opposite all main actors such that 'Amitabh Bachchan,Jeetendra,Rishi Kapoor,Shashi Kapoor,Satrughan Sinha etc.With Rishi Kapoor she appeared in eleven films and most of them were  huge success.She married Rishi Kapoor in 1980 and left the film field in 1983.After 26 years she acted in a movie 'Love Aaj Kal' in 2009.In 2010 she acted in "Do Dooni Char' and in 2012 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'.Her new Punjabi film 'Saadi Love Story'  will release in 2013.






Neetu Singh got appraisal for several films during the period up to 83.In 75 'Khel Khel mein' directed by Ravi Tandon in which Rishi Kapoor acted as her pair was a big block buster film.The song 'Khullan Khulla Pyar Karenge' is still popular.
In the film 'Deewar' starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh acted as the pair of Shashi Kapoor.Shashi Kappor handled  the role of a Police Officer in this film.
In the super hit film 'Kabhie Kabhie' directed by Yash Chopra, Neetu Singh acted as the daughter of Waheeda Rehman.
Rajesh Khanna and Neetu Singh were the main lead actors of 1975 film 'Maha Chor' directed by Narendra Bedi.The film was a super hit at the box office.
In the super duper hit 'Amar Akbar Antony' directed by Manmohan Desai, in 77
Neetu Singh acted opposite Rishi Kapoor.Amitabh Bachchan,Rishi Kapoor and Vinnod Khanna handled the hero roles of this film.The other heroines were Parveen Babi and Shabana Azmi.The film was remade in Telugu as 'Ram Robert  Rahim' and in Malayalam as 'John Jaffer Janardhanan'.
Dharam Veer was a block buster film directed by Manmohan Desai in 77 in which Dharmendra and Jeetendra were in lead roles.Jeetendra was her pair in this film.
Randhir Kapoor was her hero in the super hit film of Amitabh Bachchan  and Rakhee 'Kasme Vade' in 78 and also in another hit film of 78 'Heeralal Pannalal'.
Her son Ranbir Kapoor is a film star in Bollywood.

TINA MUNIM

Tina Munim was a successful actress in lead roles of Bollywood films during late 70's and early 80's.
She was introduced to film field by Dev Anand as his pair in the film 'Des Pardes' in 1978.  She was noted  by Dev Anand when she received  awards representing India in an International beauty contest 'Teen Princess' and she bagged Miss.Photogenic and Miss.Bikini awards.'Des Pardes' was a super hit film and she became a part of Bollywood film industry.
Tina  Munim was born in  Mumbai on 11 Feb 1957 in a Gujarati speaking  respectable business family.After her first successful film she appeared in noted films like  
'Baaton Baaton Mein' (opposite Amol Palekar).
In 1980 she could act again opposite Dev Anand in the film 'Man Pasand' which was directed by Basu Chatterjee and turned to be a  hit film.In the same year
Dev Anand produced and directed 'Loot Maar' in which Tina Munim was his heroine.This film was a super hit box office success of the year.
!981 film 'Katilon ka Katil' had Dharmendra in lead role and Rishi Kapoor,Zeenat Aman,Tina Munim and Amjad Khan were in the cast.It was also a super hit film which was directed by Anil Hingorani.
'Fiffty Fiffty' was a very popular film of 81 which was directed by Shomu Mukherjee in which Rajesh Khanna and Tina Munim were in lead roles.
The pair Rajesh Khanna-Tina Munim was very much liked by the audience and there were several super hits of this pair.In six films Rishi Kapoor was her pair and two films were super hits.






When Sunil Dutt produced 'Rocky' in 1981 to introduce his son Sanjay Dutt to Indian film screen, he selected Tina Munim as his heroine.That film was the ninth highest grossing film of the year.
Rajesh Khanna,Tina Munim and Padmini Kolhapure acted in lead roles of 1981 super hit film 'Souten' directed by Sawan Kumar.The music of Usha Khanna became very popular and the song and sequence of "Shayad meri Shaadi ka Khayal" became favourite.
When Rajesh Khanna produced 'Alag Alag' in 1985 which was directed by Shakti Samanta, Tina Munim acted in lead role.
'Bewafai' is a 1985 film starring Rajesh Khanna and Rajni Kanth which turned to be a big success.It was directed by R.Thyagarajan.
In 1987 Tina Munim moverd to California and continued her studies there.Later 
Shri.Anil Ambani married her and they are leading a happy life.Today she is involved in several Social and Charity activities.She never returned to films after her marriage.

REENA ROY

Yesteryear beautiful and elegant heroine  of Bollywood Reena Roy, in  late 70's and early 80's was competent to Hema Malini and Rekha also regarding  her versatile acting skill and dancing style.
She was born to a Muslim father and Hindu mother as 'Roopa Rai' on 7 th January 1957.In her teens her parents separated and she had to accept acting as a profession to look after her family.
Her first film had some releasing problems and the next film 'Zaroorat' was released in 1972 which was with Vijay Arora and Danny.
Her acting career witnessed a boost from 1976 onwards with hits like 'Nagin' and 'Kalicharan'.
'Nagin' took her career to great heights with her enchanting dancing skill and 
marvellous acting.She played a female serpent who could assume human form and performs revenge to those responsible for her husband's death.






In 'Subhash Ghai's' 'Kalicharan' she paired with Shatrughan Sinha which became 
a super hit film.In 1977 'Apanapan' received accolades for her portray of a selfish woman,in 1978 'Viswanath' became a super hit film which she coupled with Shatrughan Sinha,in 79 as the wife of Jeetendra she got much appraisal for the film 'Badaltey Rishtey'.
In 1979 the multi starer 'Jaani Dushman' was a block buster film which earned her appreciation  in which
Sunil Dutt,Sanjeev Kumar,Shatrughan Sinha,Rekha etc also acted in it.
Another star studded film was 'Naseeb' released  in 1981 in which Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini also acted.The role demanded much acting skill for which she got good results.
In the same year 1981 'Pyasa Sawan' with Jeetendra and Moushumi Chatterjee was a family drama which contained nice songs and dance sequences.It was a mega hit.81 witnessed another nice film of her 'Dhanwan' with Rajesh Khanna in which she played the role of a widow.
The film 'Lakshmi' was not a hit but her acting talents and dancing style got good opinion.

In 83 her character 'Shobha' in the film 'Arpan' paired with Jeetendra was noted for the theme and portrayal of typical Indian womanhood of sacrifice.
The film 'Sanam Teri Kasam' was with Kamal Hassan in which she presented nice dances.
In  the year 2000 she acted along with Kareena and Abhishek for the film 'Refugee' which was their launching film
Reena Roy married a Pakistani Cricket player but they got separated later.She is having a daughter.

MOUSHUMI CHATTERJEE

The versatile actress Moushumi Chatterjee earned  love and admiration of 
all film goers by her excellent character presentation in several films.She was born in Calcutta on 26 April 1953 and her entry to film field was by a Bengali Film 'Balika Badhu' directed by 'Tarun Majumdar' in 1969.For that first film itself  she got award as Best actress.
Her entry to Bollywood was by the film 'Anurag' in 1973 directed by a famous Bengali director Shakti Samanta and the film received much acclaim from critics and viewers.Thus Moushumi Chatterjee established as an actress of Hindi films and she used to  appear in some Bengali films also.She was already a  married woman  when she acted in Anurag.Her husband is Jayant Mukherjee who is the son of 
Music Composer and Singer Hemant Kumar.
Moushumi Chatterjee is a trained Commercial Pilot also and she used to fly Air India flights to U.S., Europe and Middle East destinations.
Her first film dealt with the theme of Child marriage which was common in some parts of India and  she presented excellent acting skills.Like that in her debut Hindi film 'Anurag'  she paired with Vinod Mehra and acted quite naturally.Ashok Kumar and Nootan also acted in it.Rajesh Khanna had a special appearance in Anurag.The film was a super hit and Moushumi's  acting as a blind girl was  fantastically well in this film.This film was remade in Malayalam as 'Raagam'  and Malayalam version  was directed by A.Bhimsingh.
1974 film 'Roti Kapada Aur Makan' which highlighted the three essentials of mankind which  are food,clothing and shelter  was written, produced and directed by Manoj Kumar.Shashi Kapoor,Zeenat Aman acted in it along with Manoj Kumar and Moushumi.In this film she portrayed a poor girl 'Tulsi'.
In 1975 the film 'Benaam' in which Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi acted was a super hit film.In 1975 she had several films in main roles such as "Umar Qaid,Raftaar,Natak,Mazaaq,Do Jhoot,Anari' etc.
In 1976 she acted as 'Devi Maa Sita' in the film 'Jai Bajrangbali' which was a mythological theme.Dara Singh acted as Humanji in this film.






In 76 'Zindagi' was a noted film directed by Ravi Tandon in which Sanjeev Kumar,Vindod Mehra,Mala Sinha etc acted along with her.Sanjeev Kumar received Filmfare Best actor Award for this film.
'Swarg Narak' was also a successful film of Sanjeev Kumar,Jeetendra,Vinod Mehra,and Moushumi in 78 directed by Dasari Narayana Rao.It was the remake of Telugu film by the same director in the same name.
'Dil Aur Deewar' was also another successful film of the pair Moushumi-Jeetendra in 78 directed by K.Bapaiah.It was the remake of Telugu film 'Jeevan Tarangalu'.
'Prem Bandhan' of 79 was a nice film in which Rajesh Khanna gave a touching performance and regained his popularity as the  Superstar of Bollywood.'Pyaasa Sawan' was yet another   big hit of Jeetendra,Moushumi ,Reena Roy and Vinod Mehra in 1981.
'Ogo Bodhu Sundari' was a super  hit Bengali film released in 81 in which Moushumi was the heroine.
In the 82 film 'Angoor' directed by Gulzar she portrayed the role as wife of Sajeev Kumar's character 'Ashok R. Tilak'.It was about identical twins separated at birth and meets in adulthood.
'Ghar ek Mandir' was a nice family drama directed by K.Bapaiah in 84.
"Aag Hi Aag' of 87 was the biggest hit of that year in which Dharmendra,Shatrughan Sinha and Moushumi Chatterjee acted.
In the 1989 film 'Sikka' she acted as wife of  Dharmendra's character  'Vijay'.Jackie Shroff and Dimple Kapadia acted in important roles also.
In the 2006 film 'Zindagi Rocks' she acted in dual roles as Sushmita Sen's mother and Mausi.
In the 2010 film 'The Japanese Wife' she presented an important character.
Moushumi Chatterjee is still acting in films in character,supporting roles and mother roles.She is involved in politics also.
Moushumi Chatterjee is having two daughters and one of them has entered in to acting field.

REKHA

Rekha is acclaimed as one of the finest actresses of Bollywood which she attained with hard work, self control,love for her career,aspiration and determination.During the early years of her career as a new heroine of Hindi Cinema she was looked upon as a dirty duckling since she was not up to the mark like other South Indian female Stars.She had  dark complexion and a was a plump figure which did not suit for Bollywood beauty concept.Rekha determined for a thorough change, for which she had to undergo strict diet control, did severe exercises like Yoga, got trained in Hindi language etc and the overall transformation was unbelievable.She concentrated on make-up also and eventually she was looked upon as an enchanting Angel.
Rekha's original name is Bhanurekha Ganesan and she is the daughter of South Indian film Yesteryear Superstar Gemini Ganesan and Telugu film Actress Pushpavally.She was born  on 10 Oct 1954.

She entered Telugu film Industry at the age of twelve in 1966 and in to Hindi films in 1970.She had a Telugu film released in the year 1970 and along with that Bollywood film 'Sawan Bhadon' also released which was a hit film and Rekha became a star in Hindi films.She was considered as a glamour girl only initially which she changed with an overall transformation.She astonished everybody with her new figure and versatile acting talent.She was willing to work hard to attain her goals. For the natural performance in the film 'Umrao Jaan' she took the pains to study Urdu language which she handled with ease later on.
She was admired for her excellent performance in the film 'Ghar' ,'Muqqader ka Sikkander' etc and entered in to the hearts of film lovers.







She appeared in so many good films with Amitabh Bachchan up to 1981 and the last film of them as a pair was Yash Chopra's 'Silsila'.
In 1981 she starred in the famous film 'Umrao Jaan' which handled a theme of  19 th century.In the title role as a Courtesan and poetess she got accolades 
and obtained National Award for Best Actress from Government of India.
Her first  Filmfare Award was in 1980 for the film 'Khoob Soorat' which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
Film 'Ek Hi Phool' in 1981 with Jeetendra also got good appreciation .
Rekha loved to act in parallel cinema which are realistic films and her performances in films like Shyam Benegal's Kalyug, Nihalani's Vijetha, Gulzar's  
'Ijaazat' etc are unmemorable.
She dared to do any kind of roles which were difficult to portray and was brilliant in films like 'Khoon Bhari Mang' ,  'Kamasutra- A tale of Love', and 
'Khiladiyon ka Khiladi' etc.
Rekha's versaile acting talent was initially well noted for her appearance as a greedy wife in the film 'Do Anjane' opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 1976 which became a hit film.
'Aalap'  which was also  a film of Amitabh-Rekha pair directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee earned appreciation.In 1977 'Khoon Pasina' which was a film of Amitabh,Rekha and Vinod Khanna  directed by Prakash Mehra earned good accolades.In 1978 'Ghar' produced by N.N.Sippy and directed by Manik Chatterjee highlighted Rekha's versatile acting talents.
In 78 Muqqader ka Sikkander, in which Amitabh Bachchan,Rekha,Vinod Mehra,Amjad Khan etc acted  and  was directed by Prakash Mehra became third biggest grosser after 'Sholay' and 'Bobby.'
'Prem Bandhan' which was directed by Ramanand Sagar in 79 became a successful hit film and helped to regain the 'Superstar' popularity for 'Rajesh Khanna'.
'Kalgug' directed by Shyam Benegal in 81 dealt with a  theme of rivalry between two business houses.Shashi Kapoor,Rekha,Raj Babbar etc were in the cast.
Rekha is nominated member of 'Rajya Sabha'  at present.

ZEENAT AMAN

Enchanting actress Zeenat Aman with her gorgeous figure and cute smile entered in to the hearts of young men of 70's with the success of Dev Anand film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.She acted as the drug addict sister 'Janice' of Super Star Dev Anand in that film.The song and song sequence of 'Dum Maro Dum' thrilled  millions of film goers and she  suddenly rose to the heights of popularity.Youngsters loved her stylish appearance and pretty face so that the
media also competitively put her as the cover girl of several top line magazines of those period.
Zeenat Aman was born on 19 Nov 1951 to Script writer Amanulla Khan.Her mother was a Hindu. Her father died when Zeenat was only 13 years old and her mother got remarried to a German.Zeenat graduated from St.Xavier's College,Mumbai and went to California for further studies with a scholarship.
When she came back she joined as journalist of 'Femina' magazine and later turned to modelling.She became second runner up of Miss India contest and Won 
Miss Asia Pacific in 1970.
Her debut to the film industry was with  the film 'Hulchul' and then  she appeared in the film 'Hangama' along with Kishore Kumar but both the films were flops.At that stage she got last minute chance to portray the role of 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' which dealt with the life style of Hippies.The film was a roaring success and there after several hit films were released with Dev Anad-Zeenat Aman Pair."Heera Panna,Ishq Ishq Ishq,Prem Shastra, Warrant, Darling Darling, Kalabaaz" were blockbuster films of Dev Anand and Zeenat during 73-77.
Big banners and eminent directors utilized her for gigantic success projects.B.R.Chopra,Raj Kapoor,Man Mohan Desai,Feroz Khan,Nazeer Hussain Manoj Kumar, Sakti Samanta,Prakasah Mehra etc made memorable films of Zeenat Aman.
She was very bold enough to reveal her glamour and play unconventional roles also and so viewers could enjoy films like 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', 'Roti Kapada aur Makan', Ajnabee'  ' Manoranjan'  ' Prem Shastra' etc.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna's songs are still popular.The lyrics were written by 
Anand Bakshi,Music was by RD Burman and 'Dum Maro Dum' was sung by Asha Bhosle for which she received Filmfare Best playback female singer award.For the role in that film, Zeenat Aman got Best Supporting actress award from Filmfare.
'Yadon Ki Baarat' was 1973 film of Dharmendra,Zeenat Aman,Vijay Arora, directed by Nazeer Hussain which boosted the acting career of Zeenat.
The song 'Chura Liya Hai' sung by Asha Bhosle is very popular.
The film and role of Zeenat Aman in Dev Anand's 'Heera Panna'  received accolades for her.
'Roti Kapada Makan' was written,produced and directed by Manoj Kumar, which turned to be the  highest grosser of 1974.
'Manoranjan' was a film of Shammi Kapoor,Sanjeev Kumar, directed by Shammi Kapoor   in which Zeenat portrayed an unconventional role.
'Warrant' of Dev Anand and Zeenat pair was a super duper hit.





'Dharam Veer' was film of Man Mohan Desai with the theme 'separated and reunited'.Dharmendra,Jeetendra,Zeenat Aman,Neetu Singh,etc were in the cast.'Hum Kisise Kum Naheen' was super hit film of Nazeer Hussain in which Rishi Kapoor,Kajal Kiran,Zeenat Aman,Amjad Khan etc acted.
'Satyam Sivam Sundaram' produced and directed by Raj Kapoor in 1978 in which she was shown attractively as an art piece is still admired by many viewers.

Her last appearance as lead role was for film 'Gawahi' in 1989.

Zeenat Aman married Mazher Khan in 1985 but he died in 1998.She is living with her two  sons at present and occasionally appears in films also.

SHABANA AZMI

Shabana Azmi is a highly talented actress well acclaimed for her manifestation of characters sagaciously perfect as if real.She will always transform herself as   the  character and portrays it with conspicuous mannerisms best suited so that the audience will be delighted to watch  her performance.Her dedication to the career is wonderful such that she is not bothered about the stardom or image but accepts juicy characters with some stuff to act which she loves to take as a challenge.No wonder she got National Award as Best Actress continuously in the years 1982,83 and 84.Altogether she got National award as Best Actress five times.
Shabana Azmi was born on 18 Sept 1950 in Hyderabad to parents Kaifi Azmi and Shoukat Azmi.Her father father earned reputation as a Poet and mother  a 
Veteran Indian People's Theatre Association Stage Actress.Both of them were 
members of Communist Party of India.
Shabana Azmi had her Schooling at Bombay and graduated in Psychology from 
St.Xavier's College Bombay.Since she loved acting career so much she joined 
Film and Television Institute of India(FTII)  at Pune and graduated from the Institute in 1973.She was signed in some films at that time but the first film released was Shyam Benegal's 'Ankur' in 1974.It was the directorial debut of Shyam Benegal.Shabana Azmi got National Award as Best Actress for this film, thereby she got much publicity and appreciation.
During 70's and 80's several intellectual directors were making realistic films 






as parallel cinema and in such neo-realistic films Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi had appeared in several unforgettable roles.She used to act in mainstream films also .
'Nishant' was another film directed by Shyam Benegal in 1975 with Shabana Azmi and Girish Karnad in lead roles.Amrish Puri,Smita Patil and Naseerudin Shah were also in the cast.
Shyam Benegal's 'Junoon' of 1978 was also highly acclaimed.It was produced
by Shashi Kapoor and he handled the hero role.The film earned several Filmfare awards and National Award as Best Feature film in Hindi, and Awards for Best Cinematography and Audiography.
'Swamy' was a popular film of 77 which was directed  by Basu Chateerjee.Shabana,Vikram and Girish Karnad were in main roles.
'Namkeen' of 82 was a  nice film of Gulzar in which Sanjeev Kumar,Sharmila Tagore,Wahida Rehman,Shabana Azmi etc acted.Shabana Azmi portrayed as an intellectual but mute girl in this film.
'Masoom' of 83 was directorial debut of Shekhar Kapoor.It's screenplay was by Gulzar.The film won several Filmfare awards.Naseerudin Shah got Best Actor award by Filmfare for this film.Gulzar received award for Best Lyricist.


'Amardeep' was a successful film of 1979 produced by K.Balajee and directed by R.Krishnamurthy.It was one of the Best films of Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi as the pair.In many films they have appeared together as pair.
'Khamosh' was a thriller film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in 85 in which Shabana Azmi,Naseerudin Shah and Amol Palekar were in Prime roles.
'Susman' of 87 and 'Antarnaad' of 91 were nice films directed by Shyam Benegal.
'Arth' was directed by Mahesh Bhatt in 82, 'Khandhar' was directed by Mrinal Sen in 83 and 'Paar' was a film directed by Goutam Ghosa in 84 for  which Shabana Azmi got National Award as Best Actress.
The film 'God Mother' of 1999 earned her Best Actress  National Award for the fifth time.This film earned her husband 'Javed Akhtar' National Award as Best Lyricist.Her husband Javed Akhtar is a poet,Lyricist,script writer and film producer.
Shabana Azmi has acted in Hollywood Productions also such as 'Madame Sousatzka' and 'City of Joy'.She earned accolades and International recognition by acting in the film 'Fire' in 96 directed by Deepa Mehta.
Shabana Azmi  has acted in TV Serial and acted on stages also.She is a well known social worker.
She is recipient of several National and International Awards.From 1997 she served as nominated member of 'Rajya Sabha'.(Upper Parliament).
She was given Padma Shri in 1988.She got Gandhi Int'l peace Award in 2006.
She got 'Padma Bhushan' Award  from Government of India in 2012.
